Working Day in the Life: 21 Months Old - fANNEtastic food | Registered Dietitian Blog

Hi associates! It has been ages since I did a day within the life publish – especially a day in the life publish on considered one of my work days vs. mother life days!

We now have childcare twice every week – on Mondays from 10 to four and Wednesdays from 10 to 6. I can get slightly work achieved on my mom days during naptime as nicely, but Mondays and Wednesdays are my days to get extra targeted work executed, to take AnneTheRD vitamin shopper conferences or calls, and infrequently to go to appointments or attend to other stuff that’s not toddler-friendly. 🙂

So – here’s what I was up to this week on Wednesday!

6:15 a.m. – I all the time seem to get up right round this time which is annoying if Riese isn’t up but and if I’m not making an attempt to do an early workout! I often do early morning exercises (6 or 6:30 a.m.) 2 or three days every week, however this isn’t a type of days, so I try to fall back asleep.

6:45 a.m. – No cube, can’t fall again asleep, and I hear Riese waking up anyway. Matt is in the bathe so I get myself up and going and head in to get her up, change her diaper, and so on.

7:15 a.m. – Come downstairs and start breakfast! This principally entails Riese flipping out and refusing to be put down, so I do all the things one handed. Often I’ll get her began in her high chair with some fruit earlier than I give her the remainder of her breakfast, particularly if I want two arms to make no matter else I’m making!

I have some leftover Veggie Egg Casserole and some fruit and muesli, plus yogurt that Riese feeds to me. 😉 Sidenote – Riese LOVES banana and I’ve been giving it to her with slightly nut butter on each chew – helps maintain her full longer than simply the banana alone… particularly if it’s a day the place she only needs to eat the banana and nothing else.

We are saying bye to Matt at 7:20 – he has an early meeting to get to.

7:45 – 9:20 a.m. Bumble round the house cleaning up from breakfast, enjoying with the dog and cat and numerous toys, feeding the dog and cat, and getting myself and Riese ready for the day.

I really like that our sitter doesn’t come till 10 a.m. – our previous nanny used to arrive at eight a.m., and while the additional arms have been helpful, I really like our new routine and am grateful to get to spend morning time with Riese day-after-day of the week now. 🙂

9:25 a.m. – We finally make it out the door! Every weekday morning Riese and I take the canine for a walk or a jog. I’m all the time proud once we lastly get out the door because it’s so many logistics… getting dressed and ready for me and Riese, getting the (outrageously excited and jumping all over us) canine prepared and ready by the door together with her leash, collar, poop luggage, and so on., getting a snack for Riese prepared and each of our water bottles ready, grabbing (/trying to find) my telephone and hat, getting Riese within the stroller whereas the canine waits inside, THEN bringing the dog out and attaching her leash to the stroller, then putting sunscreen on both of us… OMG a lot. Ha. I can only think about this with greater than 1 baby… (not pregnant, just a comment)!

Sidenote – thank you for all of your useful comments on Monday’s blog submit about bribery and powerful toddler opinions… I’ve been reframing things with the morning stroller and now as an alternative of “please just get in the stroller and I offers you a snack” – I’ve been speaking it up and saying “Let’s dress, after which you’ll be able to take pleasure in your snack in the stroller once we stroll the canine.” Similar consequence, but framed extra positively for both of us. 🙂

(Another sidenote – for those who also have a very robust willed youngster, take a look at this text that a blog reader shared – I discovered it useful! Peaceful Parenting Your Robust-Willed Youngster)

9:30 – 10 a.m. – Stroller run with Riese and the canine! It’s pretty scorching out already but I used to be craving a exercise and our dog is all the time super completely happy if we run vs. walk. 😉

We in all probability cowl about 1.5 to 2 miles, which is about my max when the stroller is in the mix. That ish is tough!

10 a.m. – Arrive again house simply as the sitter arrives – good timing! I all the time attempt to time it like this so that Riese continues to be in the stroller and I can shortly present our nanny the meals state of affairs for Riese for the day after which send them right off to the playground, vs. Riese coming inside first, clinging to my legs and crying, and so forth.

She’s nonetheless unhappy once I say bye, but when she’s nonetheless in the stroller at the least it’s straightforward to shortly get her distracted and off to their adventure.

10:10 a.m. – Hop in the shower and prepare for the day.

10:40 a.m. – Head out the door with my work stuff in tow. #WetHairDontCare

I take a little bit of a roundabout path to keep away from going by the playground or down the road the place Riese and our sitter could possibly be strolling round… if Riese sees me she’ll get really unhappy yet again (and so will I)!

I also eat a snack while I’m walking – a peanut butter oatmeal ball from Stomping Ground in Del Ray + an Oatmeal Banana Coconut Cookie (

I packed two of each so I save the other two for the afternoon!

10:50 a.m. – Grab a quick iced latte as a result of I understand I forgot to have espresso this morning and I’m dragging.

11 a.m. – Tour a co-working area in Del Ray! I mentioned final week that I tried one out in Previous City, Alexandria that I really favored, but I found there’s one strolling distance to our house so I needed to provide it a shot too as a result of not having to drive (and cope with expensive/annoying Previous Town parking) can be ideally suited.

11:05 a.m. – It’s a small area so it was a fast tour! They let me stay and work for the day to check it out, which is what I was hoping, so I set up shop and get going. It’s SUPER quiet (just one different individual around) which I truly don’t love because I’d relatively have extra life/action happening, but the comfort might mean I’m going with this place over the Previous City one although I appreciated the extra energetic vibe higher in Previous Town… we’ll see.

My blog submit for the day (my Watermelon Mojito Sorbet) is already stay (I wrote it and pre-published it on Monday so it will seem on Wednesday morning – I often do this nowadays since I’m not actively online as early as I used to be), so I spend a while sharing it around on social media, sending the links to the shopper, after which catching up on emails and blog comments.

12:40 p.m. – Break for lunch! I walk over to Stomping Ground and order their beet salad with roasted hen added.

It’s really scrumptious!

Whereas I eat, I take heed to an episode of Janet Lansbury’s parenting podcast “Unruffled” that a bunch of you advisable to me in the comments section of Monday’s submit. I really like that the episodes are principally solely about 20 minutes – good!

I take heed to the January 22 episode about how you can set limits with youngsters (even those as young as Riese). It’s actually fascinating and helpful! I additionally acquired her guide (“No Dangerous Youngsters: Toddler Self-discipline Without Disgrace“). Matt downloaded it on Audible and is going to take heed to it in the automotive on his commute so we are on the identical page.

1 p.m. – Take a fast walk around the block (know-how free) to reset and get some recent air.

1:15 p.m. – Again to my desk!

I spend the rest of the afternoon catching up on emails, working ahead on some blog stuff (like starting this submit, and one other recipe publish that’s in the works), and dealing on some blog redesign to-do gadgets (reviewing previous recipe blog posts to see which of them I need to hold/function – they despatched me an enormous spreadsheet of links to go through, oof).

Sooner or later I get uninterested in sitting and set up this makeshift standing desk using a submitting cupboard. 😉

Around four, I eat the rest of my snack from the morning. I in all probability ought to have brought one thing savory and crunchy with me as nicely because I’m still a bit hungry and craving one thing not sweet or chewy, however oh nicely!

5 p.m. – AnneTheRD vitamin shopper name.

5:30 p.m. – Send my shopper a comply with up e mail, wrap up a couple of different unfastened finish emails, and pack up and head out the door.

5:55 p.m. – Arrive house – yay! It’s all the time so enjoyable to return house to Riese – she will get SO excited and runs in the direction of me. It’s one of the best. 🙂

6 p.m. – Say farewell to our sitter and go upstairs to play with Riese.

6:45 p.m. – Riese starts getting a bit of manic (throwing heavy wooden toys down the stairs, and once I ask her to please maintain the toys upstairs with us, she as an alternative starts throwing them at me… ahh, toddlers) so I determine it’s time to get her ready for mattress. Often Matt will get residence between 6:30 and 7 but he texted that it will be a late one, so I do know I’m not making an attempt to maintain Riese up to see him!

7:15 p.m. – Finally get Riese wrangled into her jammies, consuming some milk, and studying a e-book/singing with me to attempt to calmmmm issues down a bit earlier than mattress.

7:30 p.m. – Lights out for Riese. Night time, night time!

I come downstairs and snack on some crackers and guac while making an attempt to determine if I feel up for making an elaborate dinner. 😉

I ultimately determine to throw together a simple rice, beans, and fish state of affairs.

I pan sear some fish rubbed with just a little Mexican-themed seasoning…

And then serve it with 90 second brown rice, microwave string beans, and some canned black beans. Straightforward and fast! Enjoyed with a magazine. 🙂

eight:30 p.m. – Clear up the kitchen, tidy up downstairs, and then type by way of some mail and packages.

My new purse came – cute, right? Lower than $20 on Amazon and is available in a ton of colour choices, too! I wanted a new on a regular basis purse that may match every little thing – I had two I alternated between however both have been principally falling apart after a few years of use. I was nerdy excited to place all my stuff away in this. I like the dimensions – not too huge, but large enough to suit a water bottle, telephone, wallet, and so on.

9 p.m. – Head upstairs and get ready for bed.

9:15 p.m. – In bed! Getting in bed early to read is my fave. I start studying the “No Dangerous Youngsters” e-book – fascinating, although I want she went into somewhat extra element about the best way to perform her recommendation…

9:30 p.m. – Matt is residence! Wow, that was a late one. Poor man! We make amends for our days and loosen up.

10 p.m. – Lights out! I’m wiped and I have my alarm set for five:33 am (yes, those three minutes matter) to hit a yoga class – oof!

Be happy to play alongside within the comments – what’s a typical day within the life like for you?

In different information, I’m off to Monterey, California tomorrow! I’m attending a press journey that takes place Monday to Thursday, however determined to go out early to see my good friend Lauren from grad faculty. I’m excited! I’ll pop back in on Monday with some journey adventures, so keep tuned – or see what I’m as much as on Instagram in the meantime. 🙂
